Celebrating Our Donors

The Rotary Club of White Rock Millennium recently donated $1,500 to the Semiahmoo Library’s Teen Book Club. The funds will be used to purchase copies of the books discussed by Book Club participants.

Founded in 2005, the Teen Book Club is coordinated by Youth Services Librarian Linda Neumann and runs from September to April each year. Participants discuss a wide range of books - primarily novels but non-fiction as well, such as Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth.

“We really appreciate the Rotary Club of White Rock Millennium supporting this Teen Literacy initiative,” says Semiahmoo Branch Manager Trish Miller. “The Book Club provides a unique opportunity for teens to dig into books they might not be aware of.”

A young reader & his Reading Buddy share a good book.

Coast Capital Savings recently made a significant commitment to one of Surrey Public Library's most successful literacy programs.
Now renamed the Coast Capital Reading Buddies Program, this initiative pairs young readers with teen volunteers who help them improve their reading and comprehension skills. Coast Capital's contribution of $30,000 over three years recognizes this program's value in encouraging teens to participate in community life, and supports the Library's efforts to ensure children have the tools to succeed at school home, and in life.

Every donation makes a difference!

In 2005, 52,000 new borrowers registered at Surrey Public Library, bringing the total to more than 240,000.

And last year they checked out over 3.8 million items! That's a lot of books, magazines, videos, CDs, books on tape, and CD ROMs.

Your donation helps buy materials and provide services to help our customers manage their leisure time, personal life, education, careers and businesses.

Support everyone who uses the Library by making a tax-deductible donation.

You can drop your donation off at any Surrey Public Library branch. We accept all major credit cards and direct debit.
