I have been part of the SPL for almost 5 years now, 2 as a clerk and now as a Branch Assistant. Growing up I used the library to study, work on school papers, and as a child attended many of the libraries programs. Working with the public is a very rewarding job, and one that I am most proud of. Whether it be assisting a student find information for a homework assignment, or helping out with children’s storytime. I hope to be a part of SPL as it continues to expand in the future.

I have been a Youth Services Technician for just over 2 years. When I was a little girl I loved to read, and the library was one of my favourite places. I still love children’s literature, and my job gives me the opportunity to share this interest with children and their caregivers on a daily basis. Working in children’s services enables me to develop a very unique skill set, plus there are countless opportunities to connect with the community through outreach and programming. It is always a challenge, and I learn something new every day! - Julianne

I earned my Masters of Library and Information Science from the Panjab University, India and currently work as an Information Services Librarian. I enjoy working with people from all ages and reaching out to a diverse community, and sharing my research, technological and language skills. I enjoy providing information and reader advisory services to customers, supervising staff and training them on computer applications, databases and internet. - Harjinder
The most enjoyable aspect of being an Information Services Technician here at the Surrey Public Library is that the career is so dynamic! You are never bored. The variety of questions, research, and assisting customers in finding what they need keeps you up to date with what is going on in the world. You can exercise your mind and creative side, all the while helping customers! People really do appreciate what you do, and in the end, that is very satisfying. - Cortney
